If you’ve been discouraged by the enormous power bills you’ve likely been receiving, it’s time to take some realistic steps towards lowering those bills. You can easily and inexpensively reduce your power bills by following a few very simple steps.

This article will list some simple, easy-to-do things to reduce your power bill.

Limit use: Begin with the room you‘re sitting in. If you were to take a call in another room or join your family at the dinner table, would you just leave the room without any concern for the lights and appliances in the room? If your answer is “yes”, then stop right there, and think about it. Even if you’ll be back in just a couple of minutes, switching off the power to un needed sources, even for just a few minutes can make an impact on your monthly bill.

Smart investments: Make some smart power saving investments by replacing your incandescent bulbs (aka standard light bulbs) with compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. These bulbs are a great power-saving investment because they can use the same, or sometimes use less power while providing more light.

Home appliance usage: Most people assume that their power bills are through the roof because of the number of electrical appliances they have. However, what you pay for power is not directly proportional to the number of gadgets you use, but rather the way you use them. Following are a few things to remember to help to keep your power bills in check.

• Use the washing machine only when there is a full load of clothes.
• Keep the air-conditioner or heater at the minimum low or high temperature, just enough to keep you off the heat or the cold outside.
• Switch off the computer monitor even when you take a one-minute break. It takes just a second to switch on the monitor again!

You’d be surprised at how quickly the savings will add up just by taking these simple steps.
Remember, reducing power in any way possible helps to save the environment. You really can make a difference! Make power at home with solar and wind energy to eliminate your power bill. Your power company may have to pay you! (Yes, REALLY). Get our complete guide at Earth4Energy

Two of the most effective and reliable alternative energy sources are solar power energy solutions and wind power energy solutions. They are probably the top renewable energy sources. With today’s technology, you can totally replace conventional power sources in your home. What this means is that ALL of the power you require to run your home can be delivered reliably and inexpensively by using one or both of these renewable energy resources. The sun and the wind. The sun’s power can be collected and turned into useable power with solar panels, and wind power can be transformed into energy for use in your home with the help of a windmill or windmills. Both of these solutions are easy to make yourself, and are incredibly cost effective. The money you‘ll save in the first month alone will practically pay for the cost of materials and instructional materials. In addition to reducing or completely eliminating your power bills, you’ll never be without power in the event of power outages. You’ll also be helping the environment by using renewable energy.

The following information will discuss a cost effective wind power energy solution that you can use in your own home.

  • Wind power generation works best when the following conditions are met:
Your property is at least 1 acre in size. Wind Power solutions need lots of open area in order to properly convert wind into power.
  • Wind speed averages approximately 11 miles per hour. If you live in an area that doesn’t get much wind flow, your system will not work properly.

The above requirements may represent the only Disadvantages of Wind Power.

Consult an expert to find out specifics. There are several excellent informational products available that you need to investigate. You’ll save yourself tons of money and frustration. Check this one out before installing your wind power energy solution. The one I recommend is Earth4Energy. They have by far the best resources, reviews, and TESTIMONIALS.

Wind power energy generation is the perfect alternative energy solution for your needs when;

You need to access water from external sources. A wind power energy system is the perfect solution for you in this case.

Your home requires lots of uninterrupted power, or you experience unusually frequent power outages. Combating power outages is easy with a pollution-free wind power energy system. Power outages due to weather, system overload, or for whatever reason will never inconvenience you again. No more unreliable power sources.

And when you’re just plain TIRED of paying high electricity bills!

A typical wind power energy system consists of a tower and five blades that turn when the wind blows through them. This produces energy that is turned into electricity by using a wind generator. This converted electricity can be used to run all sorts of electrical appliances.

The height of the wind tower (windmill or wind mill) will vary depending on the location. You’ll need a higher tower if you’re in an area that doesn’t receive optimal and consistent wind speeds. You can have a shorter tower if you live by the beach, or other areas that do receive plenty of useable wind. Generated power can easily be stored for later use, making wind power energy generators more efficient and effective than conventional electrical power systems.

Keep in mind that the terms wind mill, windmill, wind turbines, and wind generators are used to refer to the tower and blade system.

In conclusion, the constantly increasing demand for power all over the world is making it more important than ever for everyone to begin to take steps to not only save power, but to come up with alternative methods of producing it. Along with being diligent about saving power as well as water in our own homes, it’s important to explore new ways to produce power by using methods that don’t create more pollution, yet are still cost effective.

I wouldn’t have thought that ‘little green men’ needed to pinch our little green energy. Is it a ‘close encounter’? Do not adjust your TV sets, we will control your verticals and horizontals……… do do do do. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/4174333/Wind-turbine-destroyed-after-octopus-UFO-seen-in-sky.html http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/ufos/article2108149.ece?#EMC-Bltn What do you seriously think could have happened? That blade has completely dissappeaered into thin air and it’s 65 feet long fgs. r doug w….. It HAS vanished….read the report! “Afterwards there was no trace of one of the turbine’s three huge 65ft blades — ripped off in the collision”.
It broke. The blade may be in a scrap yard, and some dotty lady said she saw lights just before it all happened (at 4.00am??). Scenario; Alien beings travel millions of miles through space with technology we can only dream of, and crash into one of our wind turbines .. I don’t think so.

This is Sarah speaking out on alt energy. This was just before being picked for VP. 8/9/08 This was when I still liked Sarah and thought she was for the people. There was no drill dance, only talk of real solutions -although I didn’t find any solutions to power my car and house. I need for less lip service from Politicians and some energy alternatives that I can afford and are available now. It’s too expensive to drive and heat our house, we need that wind tunnel to become affordable (way too expensive for most people) and electric or hydro conversions in our cars now! No garage is doing it so had no luck there either. How about putting some of that “dough” to work with an organized and funded effort to install these devices in people’s homes who want it and in cars too. This alt fair was a show with no real available solutions. Everywhere I turn for alternatives I get hit with suppression by big oil govt (that now backs her). We need to decrease dependence on oil right now and its in the peoples best interest but big o is making record profits at our expense. Im sick of our elitist govt -they do not make decisions for our best interests only their own greed and power which is out of control. I do not care whose side you’re on we need to address this. URGENTLY! We the people need to DEMAND the release of these suppressed technologies and get them to work IMMEDIATELY! That would be some real energy independence. Keynote Speaker was Daniel Lerch, Post Carbon Cities Program Manager from the Post Carbon Institute.

Is it feasible to use these methods to increase gas mileage? For instance, wind power generators placed strategically in or on the vehicle could at least produce enough electricity to power the radio and other devices. Just a thought.
Explanation: Not possible. Most of these do not produce enough lto sustain power (long term power) to move a vehicle (normally weighs about 1 ton). Also problem on efficiency and mounting of equipment which will make the car even heavier. You might want to ask yourself this questionon whether you want to drive at 25 mph to your destination. And instead of taking 30 mins now it takes 2 hours.

The ‘Pickens Plan’ – A Fantasy or Reality?

Billionaire oil baron, T. Boone Pickens is abandoning the black gold that made him rich and looking to tap another, greener recourse to help power the nation… wind. Pickens made his fortune in oil, and currently esses our energy needs as one “we can’t drill our way out of.” He is a staunch critic of America’s reliance on foreign oil and recently unveiled a radical new plan that could reduce American reliance on foreign oil by as much as a third and finally tip domestic energy production towards renewable natural resources. “The Pickens Plan” calls for the harnessing of wind power to generate more than 20 percent of the country’s energy needs. Studies have shown that tthe “wind corridor” along the Great Plains states holds the greatest potential for wind energy anywhere in the world, making the USA the “Saudi Arabia of wind power.” According to the Plan, if private industry built enough wind turbines along the wind corridor, which stretches from Southern Texas to the Canadian border, they could generate 22 percent of the country’s electricity. And Pickens is putting his money where his mouth is making a 2 billion dollar initial investment in what will eventually become the world’s largest wind farm in Pampa, Texas. The Pickens Plan will only work if other companies make similar investments in wind power as thousands of wind turbines combined are necessary for the plan to come true. Furthermore, Pickens Plan states that when wind replaces many Natural gas power stations, that Natural Gas should be used as transportation fuel, which burns about 25 percent less CO2 than conventional fuel. There has been some criticism of the plan that it requires millions of dollars of public funding and that it is only replacing one fossil fuel, natural gas, for another, oil. Pickens will spend 58 million dollars promoting the plan through a mix of old and new media, and he believes the ideas could be implemented within ten years. how many wind mill generators would it take to power a city of 1000 people?

Posted by admin on June 12, 2009

how many homes can you power with a large wind turbine generator.
Based on the amount of households which divides the 1000 people and the amount of energy used by local businesses, you could theoretically power the city with 1 turbine. Another issue is that wind turbines come in all different sizes, from in the order of watts and up to 5 MWs. Todays wind farms, speaking from experience in West Texas, use turbines from 1 MW to 2.3 MWs. With this size of turbine, depending on the cooperation of the wind, can power anywhere from 300 to 600 houses. The only issue with wind power is that there is no way to contain the energy for later use, besides small batteries, which would be unrealistic. Because of this, you could create enough power from 1 to 2 wind turbines to run the city but you could no be self sufficient and detatched from the grid.
